Red Dot Gallery - Birmingham, AL - U.S.A.

.
Red Dot Gallery is a happy place.  This has been our mission since we opened the gallery. Scott and I have been artists most of our lives, and after having several different incarnations in the art world we wanted to take the best of what we’ve learned and bring it together at Red Dot.  We’ve been university art students enmeshed in academia, endeavoring to find our own voice amidst the trends and traditions. We’ve been professional artists striving to make sales and still maintain integrity with our artwork. We’ve taught in universities and schools, hoping to inspire creativity and impart our own unique perspective under the constraints of having to give grades. Now, as gallery owners, art instructors, and practicing artists at Red Dot, we get to focus on and pass along what we think are the essentials of having a jolly good time making, viewing, buying, selling, and appreciating art.
Without a concerted effort, we weed out pretentiousness and condescending criticism (a hallmark of some establishments) to focus on developing skill, cultivating each student’s personal vision and voice, and fostering a sense of community. We want even the newbies who have never touched a brush to know they positively can improve and have fun, and that they will surprise themselves with what they accomplish The only sense of competition in the studio is within individuals, aiming to better themselves through inspiration from other students. We have little old ladies who paint flowers and birds, and we have students with advanced degrees in art focusing on contemporary themes. They often become good friends.
We don’t believe in skipping the basics in the rush to be a cool artist with a big idea. We’ve found that the tried-and-true fundamental principles and skills of art-making clear the most direct path to finding an artist’s unique creative signature. Students are given a wide-ranging skill-base that act as a broad springboard for whatever ideas and themes they want to explore and express. They also end up with the ability to enjoy the time-honored, meditative, and therapeutic act of simply making something well. Many Red Dot students call their art class their therapy and look forward to it all week. Some make life-long friends. The atmosphere is something akin to a knitting circle, where friends work together, support one another, laugh, and definitely grow.

Landmarks Gallery - Milwaukee, WI - U.S.A

.
Landmarks Gallery has been owned and operated by the Manion family since its begining in 1966. From the early days through today, we have strived to be the best source for framing, restoring, selling and appraising art in the Milwaukee area and beyond. Having been in business this many years gives us a unique perspective on art trends and history, preserving art, realistic values of art, and proper use of framing materials that will enhance and keep your art protected.

In these more recent years, we have seen a greater demand for bringing older pieces of art back to life. Many of our clients want to keep the old painting that hung in grandmas living room, or that antique piece with a lot of potential. It may be grimey with a dingy outdated frame, but when given to us to "fix" we strive to satisfy.

All of us here at Landmarks Gallery have years of art, framing and restoration experience.

Fleisher/Ollman Gallery - Philadelphia, PA - U.S.A.

.
The Fleisher/Ollman Gallery opened in Philadelphia in 1952 as the Janet Fleisher Gallery. Over the course of the next four decades, the gallery established a reputation as one of the world’s premiere sources for self-taught art, defining the field and helping to develop major public and private collections of this once-marginalized group of artists. Fleisher/Ollman was among the first to mount major exhibitions of work by Henry Darger, Sister Gertrude Morgan, Bill Traylor, and Martin Ramirez, and we published early catalogues on James Castle, William Edmondson, and Joseph Yoakum. Since 1997, when John Ollman became the gallery's sole owner, emphasis has shifted toward the exhibition of contemporary artists who reflect the influence of the self-taught, such as Anthony Campuzano and Tristin Lowe. This revised curatorial mission—recently amended to remove from discourse entirely the “self-taught” label as a distinct entity—has become particularly relevant as many contemporary artists eschew the academic in favor of intuitive practice. In addition to our modern and contemporary interests (among them Joseph Cornell, H.C. Westermann, Ed Ruscha, and Alfred Jensen), the gallery continues to showcase the most significant American vernacular artists of the 20th Century, including the exclusive representation of Felipe Jesus Consalvos and the Philadelphia Wireman.

In keeping with Fleisher/Ollman's diverse program, past exhibitions have explored the profound influence of artists like Joseph Yoakum and Martin Ramirez on the Chicago Imagists Jim Nutt, H.C. Westermann, and Ray Yoshida. “Fabulous Histories: Indigenous Anomalies in American Art," organized by Fleisher/Ollman for Harvard University’s Carpenter Center, outlined the shared formal and conceptual concerns of nine artists: Jim Nutt, Martin Ramirez, P.M. Wentworth, Christina Ramberg, James Castle, Luis Romero, Jess, Felipe Jesus Consalvos, and Anthony Campuzano. An extrapolation of this landmark exhibition was also presented at Art 36 Basel. More recently, Fleisher/Ollman presented "2000 Years of Sculpture," an exhibition which brought together the work of sixty-one artists spanning multiple cultures and more than 2000 years, and "Castle In Context," which placed James Castle's soot and spit drawings and constructions alongside the work of such artists as Jasper Johns, Grant Wood, Terry Winters and Forrest Bess.

Fleisher/Ollman has participated in a variety of art fairs, including Art Basel, Art Chicago, Köln Art Fair, Intuit Fair, The American Antiques Show (New York), ScopeLondon, ScopeMiami and The Armory Modern.

The Gallery has contributed toward building comprehensive self-taught collections at the Philadelphia Museum of Art; the High Museum, Atlanta, GA; the National Museum of American Art, Washington, DC; and the Milwaukee Museum of Art. We have also been involved in the acquisition of works by the Museum of Modern Art, NY; the Metropolitan Museum of Art, NY; the American Folk Art Museum, NY; the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts; and the Art Institute of Chicago, among others.
