Minus Space - New York - USA

.
The only gallery of its kind in the United States, MINUS SPACE specializes in reductive abstract art on the international level. Reductive art is generally characterized by its use of plainspoken materials, monochromatic or limited color, geometry and pattern, repetition and seriality, precise craftsmanship, and intellectual rigor. Reductive art is inclusive and pluralistic in its approach, including geographic location, age, gender, medium, artistic strategy, and content of work.

We present museum-quality solo and group exhibitions by pioneering emerging and established artists at our Brooklyn gallery, as well as at other collaborating venues on the national and international levels. Our exhibition program focuses specifically on the following five areas:

* Pioneering emerging artists with a demonstrated vision and practice committed to reductive art.
* Established, yet overlooked older artists working in the United States with excellent reputations and demonstrated influence within their community of artists.
* Established, international artists that have never or rarely exhibited in New York City or the United States.
* Historical exhibitions that reexamine underknown, deceased artists.
* Experimental exhibitions (ideas, ephemera, topical issues, etc.).

We represent an incomparable array of groundbreaking national and international artists working across all visual arts media. Gallery artists are included in major museum collections worldwide, including the Museum of Modern Art, Metropolitan Museum of Art, Whitney Museum of American Art, Brooklyn Museum, Albright-Knox Art Gallery, Corcoran Gallery of Art, Walker Art Center, British Museum, and Victoria and Albert Museum, among many others. The gallery also maintains inventory, including paintings, drawings, prints, photographs, works on paper, and multiples, by more than 60 additional artists working around the globe.

Menconi & Schoelkopf Fine Art - New York - USA

.
Founded in 2001, Menconi & Schoelkopf Fine Art offers a full range of American art, from the early nineteenth century through the mid twentieth. The two partners – Susan E. Menconi and Andrew L. Schoelkopf – bring to the business decades of experience in handling American paintings, drawings, watercolors, and sculpture.

Menconi & Schoelkopf offers the finest works available on the market today. We are uncompromising when it comes to quality and condition. Whether it is a small luminous Hudson River School picture or a fullblown flower painting by the major American modernist Georgia O’Keeffe, we study each work with a sharply critical eye before even thinking of offering it for sale. Often, this involves overseeing museum standard conservation and framing with a fine period frame.

Our primary activities are, of course, the acquisition and selling of art to collectors, museums, and corporations. Among the museums to which we have sold works of art are the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, the Art Institute of Chicago, the Detroit Institute of Arts, and the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. We have developed strong relationships with a number of individuals and institutions, where we act as the exclusive representatives, building or disposing of entire collections. We offer appraisal services and advice on conservation and framing.

A. Jain Marunouchi Gallery - New York - USA

.
A. Jain Marunouchi Gallery, located in the New York Gallery Building, was incorporated on October 2, 1997. Prior to 1997, the gallery had its roots as Jain Gallery, a well-known New York City gallery that was founded in 1980. Jain Gallery was initially located in New York’s prominent and industry-based Decoration & Design building, the epicenter of the city’s décor and design world. During its initial years, the gallery established many formidable connections with collectors, decorators, and public clients who continue to support the gallery to this day. By the mid 1990s, Jain Gallery’s management decided to focus heavily on the representation of Asian and European art, expanding beyond its traditional line of American artists. The gallery joined forces with a number of Japanese institutions and established itself in a prominent SoHo location at the birth of the downtown art movement in New York City.

For a number of years the gallery flourished as a destination for established and emerging artists alike. It helped make art more accessible to the public and promoted its works through various publications and art fairs. As the 90s came to an end, the art market began to shift from SoHo to Chelsea and Midtown Manhattan. It was at this point that the gallery moved to its current location at New York’s Gallery Building, a ten-story complex that houses some of the city’s finest and most well-known galleries. For the past eleven years A. Jain Marunouchi Gallery has exhibited and represented a diverse range of artists whose works span continents, genres, and mediums.

A. Jain Marunouchi Gallery is an institution that has been committed to exhibiting and representing fine artworks from prominent and emerging artists alike. The gallery has come to offer an extensive collection of contemporary artwork with artists from Asia, Australia, Europe, North America and South America. A. Jain Marunouchi Gallery has represented many fine artists at the international art fairs in Belgium, Los Angeles, Melbourne, New York, Switzerland, Tokyo and Yokohama. In addition, the gallery’s artists have been featured in Art in America, ArtNews, Asian Art Now, World Art, Art & Asia Pacific and The New York Times.

The new millennium has witnessed a surge in the popularity of contemporary art, both in the United States and abroad. In conjunction with its traditional art offerings, A. Jain Marunouchi Gallery continues in its passionate quest to promote and represent both emerging and well-established artists from across the globe. With a majority of the gallery’s artists residing in the Americas, Asia and Europe, A. Jain Marunouchi Gallery is certainly staying true to this focus. The gallery’s most recent efforts to establish the internet’s most refined and thorough art database, ArtLiaison, promises to follow in the gallery’s mission.

Phyllis Lucas Gallery - New York - USA

.
Our history dates back to 1928 when Sydney Lucas established Phyllis Lucas Gallery - Old Print Center in the heart of Manhattan.

Over the years we have become known for our extensive collection of antique, modern and contemporary works on paper. We have work from contemporary artists including photography, paintings and sculpture. We carry engravings, etchings and lithography, as well as restrikes and vintage posters. We have a large selection of classic New York scenes dating from the first half of the 19th century, as well as items representing most geographical regions.

During the 30's and 40's the Gallery was also a publishing house specializing in French etchings under the label "Paris Etching Society". Sydney Lucas contracted with French artists to publish editions of their work. After Sydney died in the mid 60's, his wife Phyllis carried on the business, building on the Gallery's collaboration with Salvador Dali. The Gallery was the first North American publisher of his lithographs and published 26 editions of his images. Dali was a frequent visitor to the Gallery and a friend of Phyllis Lucas, who died in 1995.

Michael Lucas, the son of Phyllis and Sydney has expanded the Gallery's selection of contemporary paintings and fine art photography. The Gallery is proud to feature local artists such as Howard Kolsin, a watercolorist who specializes in views of Turtle Bay. We also have a large selection of images of New York City that make unique and memorable souvenirs of a visit to Manhattan.

Lu Magnus - New York - USA

.
Lu Magnus is a salon-style gallery that seeks to expand upon the functions of a traditional art gallery. The founders’ dedication to maintaining a rigorous fine art program is only enhanced by their desire to create what founders Amelia Abdullahsani & Lauren Scott Miller refer to as an art laboratory, an incubator for cross-collaborations between artists of different mediums and art forms: film, music, dance, fashion and food.

Lu Magnus is a space that both facilitates and participates in the constant evolution, questioning and exploration of the idea – what is art? For example, Lu Magnus provides a space where musicians, dancers and fine art artists can explore freely, resulting in what was referred to in the fifties as a “happening”. Taking it a step further, adding food, fashion and film to the mix… a night of collaboration with innovative chefs to create an evening that engages all of the senses. By exploring and pushing the boundaries, Lu Magnus encourages a different way of interacting with art, instilling the love of art and collecting through an active outreach program that engages collectors and art lovers alike.

The Lu Magnus concept grew out of the founders’ varying backgrounds and different points of view: the art world insider and the art world outsider. Amelia Abdullahsani has been working in the art world for ten years, most recently as the Director of Stellan Holm Gallery. In addition to working closely with collectors and artists, she curated exhibitions that were reviewed by The New York Times and the Village Voice. She studied Architecture at the National University of Singapore before receiving a degree in Art History from Columbia University. Co-founder Lauren Miller was introduced to the art world while working at Luhring Augustine, 3 years before the inception of Lu Magnus. Prior to that, she started a fashion accessories design business that led her to live and work in New York City, Milan and Istanbul. Lauren graduated from the University of Virginia where she studied History and International Relations.
