Galerie Xippas - Paris - FR

Galerie Xippas was created in 1990 by Renos Xippas and specializes in French and international contemporary art. The gallery sees itself as a platform for discovery and promotion of young artists as well as a showcase for more established ones.
Situated in the heart of the Marais district of Paris, the spaces have distinguished architectural features such as the glass wall and the staircase, designed by Barthélémy and Grino in the late 1980s and reviewed by Paillard in 2003. With 800 sq. m. (8.000 sq. ft.) in two levels, it is one of the largest gallery spaces in Paris. The first floor is dedicated to exhibitions and the basement is used as a show room for artists represented by the gallery.
Galerie Xippas has shown particular attention to painting with shows of well-known and respected figures such as David Reed or Herbert Hamak , as well as by younger emerging artists as Ian Davenport and Dan Walsh. In the last few years it has exhibited photographic works by such artists as Philippe Ramette or Vik Muniz. Also, following installation and video art, the gallery has had a long-standing commitment to artists as complex and inventive as Valérie Jouve Céleste Boursier-Mougenot or Dominique Blais. Gallerie Xippas has also organized historical shows of Eva Hesse, Lucas Samaras, Takis. Since the opening of Galerie Xippas, almost every exhibition has been accompanied by the publication of an illustrated catalogue with an essay by an art historian, a critic, a curator or a museum director.
In the year 2007, François Quintin former director of the Frac Champagne Ardenne, is the director of the Xippas gallery in Paris.
